Crime Scene Cleanup

Crime scene clean up is a broad term applied to the forensic clean up of blood, body fluids, bodily fluids or any potentially contaminated materials at a crime scene. It is also known as forensic cleanup, and biohazard cleanup, since crime scenes are just a part of the many cases where biohazard clean up is needed.

For instance, a scene in which there has been a murder might involve biohazardous substances, including blood, feces and other bodily fluids. This type of scene may also include any items that were not contaminated or destroyed, such as an automobile accident victim’s cell phone. There are several different types of equipment used to clean up this type of scene. A police officer may carry a “clean up bucket” which is designed to be used to collect bodily fluids or blood from a scene.

A hazardous waste truck can be used to transport biohazardous substances that have been used to clean up a scene. A bio hazard truck can pick up the bio-hazard materials and dispose of them where they belong, such as in a landfill. They can also be used to haul materials that have been contaminated with biohazards and have to be transported to the landfill. These bio hazard trucks may also be used for dumping bio hazard waste on public land or the private property of a company.

In order to successfully conduct crime scene cleanup of a scene, it will usually take more than one employee. The first employee will be responsible for collecting and removing all evidence. This evidence should include anything that has been contaminated by a biological hazard, such as a car accident victim whose cell phone was contaminated, or a human body fluid such as blood. After this evidence has been collected, this individual may then gather and dispose of any clothing, bedding, shoes and other articles that have been contaminated by bio hazard fluids.

Another person who may need to be present during a crime scene clean up is a health care professional. This is the person who takes the samples of the bio hazard fluids and swabs them for documentation and laboratory testing. There are also special equipment which is used during this stage of the crime scene cleanup. This equipment may include a high tech lab, such as a Biohazardous Waste Transfer Device, that will be used to test the fluids for contamination.

Crime scene cleanup can be very complicated, especially if there are bio hazard fluids that have been recovered from a crime scene. If you have questions about your crime scene cleanup, contact a local law enforcement agency for assistance or contact a professional crime scene clean up company to assist with the cleanup process.
